The Tutt of the Hut

I love it so much when my dog is sleeping in my lap and I touch him and he wakes up all surprised and looks around like “where is she? where did that touch come from?” and is so confused until he looks up and realizes that he’s on me and he looks so happy and sleepy and in love. It just kills me every time.

We only write about two feelings: one is the first day of summer when you and all of your friends are standing on the edge of a cliff watching the sun set and being overcome with all of your hopes and dreams at once. The other is when you’re walking alone in the rain and realize you will be alone forever.

Look at the sky: that is for you. Look at each person’s face as you pass on the street: those faces are for you. And the street itself, and the ground under the street, and the ball of fire underneath the ground: all these things are for you. They are as much for you as they are for other people. Remember this when you wake up in the morning and think you have nothing.

Let your ears swim in this

Don’t make yourself too readily available for someone who isn’t as available for you. People need to learn that your love and friendship is not unconditional. There are conditions. You expect to be treated with care and consideration. If you’re not getting back what you put in, then it’s time to take a step back.
